Mennonite USA efforts to be politically correct

August 23, 2010

An Open Letter to the Executive Director of Mennonite Churches of USA:

My mother was brought up Mennonite. She would tell stories of going to church in the winter time in a horse drawn sleigh. I, in turn, was reared in a less conservative Mennonite “type” church. However, in both churches the Bible was taught to be the inspired Word of God.

I came to know about the Lord Jesus Christ when I was very young, about the age of 7, I would guess. I would attend yearly Bible camps in the summer hearing the truth, the inspired Word of God.

Many years have passed since those days of Happy Time Bible Camp and now I know more than about the Lord Jesus Christ I KNOW Him, personally to be the Creator the Savior, and part of the Godhead.

Today, I learned, to my distress, that part of the Mennonite Churches have gone so far to discredit the God inspired Word of God. The first bit of news came in an internet post about a pastor in Sarasota, Florida marrying his homosexual lover.

The argument is that we as Christians should reach out to the homosexuals and other sinners. Yes, we should reach out to these precious people with the truth.

In I Timothy 1:3-11, Paul instructs Timothy to remain on in Macedonia to instruct the men there not to teach strange doctrines. He, continues to tell Timothy “nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith.

I feel that the Main Stream Church has lost its first love in the forest of political correctness.

Paul continues to explain in verses 5-11,”But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions. But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.”

These are God’s inspired words not mine or any man’s. God loves sinners and calls them to repentance. People need to know that according to God’s Word, that anything that is contrary to sound Biblical teaching is sin and punishable by eternal separation from God, which is Hell.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 says, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

As a Church we cannot give these people a false hope, just because it is politically correct. We must stand against Satan’s lies. We must believe the inspired Word of God (II Timothy 3:16). We must teach it so “that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work (II Timothy 3:17). In not doing so, God will hold those not doing so accountable for their sin of not believing and teaching according to the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I implore you as religious people to repent. Confess the delusions that Satan has so long imprisoned you. I challenge you to take a step of faith and share with your brethren the true gospel. Choose God’s Word over political correctness. Stand up for Christ, do not deny His teachings.
